There are three circumstances for visitors to be considered in order to enter the country. First, if you are from one of the 63 low-risk counties and are fully vaccinated, you are free to go anywhere in Thailand. The documents required to show consists of vaccine passport, a negative result of RT-PCR test taken with 72 hours before arrival, health insurance and accommodation with SHA+ booking confirmation. In the second case, if you are fully vaccinated but you are from the country that is not on the list, you must first join Sandbox programs which also known as Thailand Blue Zones (Currently, there are 17 provinces out there). Thus, visitors must stay for 7 nights at an approved SHA+ Hotel in either Phuket, Khao Lak, Krabi, Samui, Koh Phang Ngan, or Koh Tao and tested negative on RT-PCR test before traveling to other parts of Thailand. Lastly, if you are not vaccinated and not from the country on the list, before being allowed to go to other parts of Thailand, you must spend 10 days undergo quarantine in an approved SHA+ hotel in Bangkok, Phuket, or Samui.

Thailand has altered COVID-19 prevention and control methods for unique tourism pilot regions, known as Thailand Blue Zones, in order to boost the economy and encourage both Thai and foreign tourists to visit the area more. Vaccination coverage in the pilot blue zone area across 17 provinces must be at least 70%. As a result, the country’s opening must be gradual. The major steps must follow the Global Prevention and Covid-19 Free Setting guidelines. The list of Thailand Blue Zone regions has been enlarged beginning November 1st, 2021. Right now, there are total of 17 provinces joining Thailand Blue zones as followed.

  1. Phuket – Phuket Sandbox
  2. Surat Thani – Samui Plus Sandbox
  3. Krabi (the whole province) – Krabi Sandbox
  4. Phang Nga (the whole province) – Phang Nga Sandbox
  5. Bangkok
  6. Samut Prakan (only at Suvarnabhumi Airport)
  7. Prachuap Khiri Khan (Hua Hin, Nong Kae)
  8. Phetchaburi (Cha-am)
  9. Chonburi (Pattaya, Bang Lamung, Na Jomtien Thian, Bang Saray, Koh Si Chang, Sriracha)
  10. Ranong (Koh Phayam)
  11. Chiang Mai (Mueang, Mae Rim, Mae Taeng, Doi Tao)
  12. Loei (Chiang Khan)
  13. Buriram (Mueang District)
  14. Nong Khai (Mueang, Si Chiang Mai, Tha Bo, Sangkhom)
  15. Udon Thani (Mueang, Na Yung, Nong Han, Prajaksilpakom, Kumphawapi, Ban Dung)
  16. Rayong (Koh Samet)
  17. Trat (Koh Chang)

Each province of the Thailand blue zones listed above are all rich in natural resources, you can find forests, watersheds, marine environments, and mineral resources throughout different provinces in the country. One of the most popular destinations here is Phuket. Phuket is the place where you can spend your full day snorkeling and exploring islands if you would like. Chiangmai is also a great place to visit if you like mountain, adventure activities and low-key kind of feeling, you will love it here.
