Dusit Thani mooncakes and the reunion party

To me, mooncakes are delicious and I sometimes got them as gifts from Chinese friends and what I usually do is to share them with other friends too. You know why right? The mooncakes are rich in textures and I think one whole mooncake is enough for you, so I share and that’s the only thing I know about this traditional Chinese pastries.

Tonight, after an evening cocktail party celebrating ‘Mid-autumn festival’ at the legendary hotel of Bangkok – Dusit Thani Bangkok – I then started thinking of a kind and approachable Chinese guy I met once I was working in Pattaya 5 years ago. Yes why not? I dated him for years, our relationship went smooth, I visited him several times a year and he did that too as Thailand is always top destionation for Chinese. I remembered and smiled everytime I told this little yet impressive story of him to other friends that he brought me to his house one evening and introduced me as one of the best Thailand friends to a family of 6 and they sat in big round table with lots of food and that night I got a chance to try the most delicious mooncake in my life – May be due to the mood, the caring questions, the atmosphere, the full moon and of course the love I experienced there in China. He told me that to all  Chinese, Mid-Autumn Festival means family reunion, peace and love. The festival is celebrated when the moon is believed to be the biggest and fullest as Chinese people believes that a full moon is a symbol of prosperity, happiness and family reunion. Romantic isn’t it? I end up texting him with a shot I took from tonight’s event and thank him for being such a friend until now and I wish we could meet and have a reunion dinner one day.

มีเรื่องนึงที่ถ้าได้เล่าให้ใครฟังก็จะอมยิ้ม ครั้งหนึ่งนานมาแล้ว เคยคบตุ๊กตาจีนคนนึง เราเจอกันสมัยซันทำงานที่พัทยา มันเป็นเรื่องบังเอิญมากที่ทำให้เจอกัน แต่อาจเพราะคุยถูกคอ ดูจริงใจ ใส่ใจ พลังด้านบวกตอนนั้นเลยเหวี่ยงให้คนน่ารักคนนี้ผ่านเข้ามา ครับ เราคบกันหลายปี ไปๆ มาๆ ทั้งไทยทั้งจีนบ่อย ๆ มีทริปนึงที่ประทับใจมาก จู่ ๆ เค้าก็พาซันไปทานข้าวกับที่บ้าน ตามมารยาทก็หาของฝากไปฝากแหละ แต่พอเจอแล้วก็ผงะ เพราะเป็นครอบครัวใหญ่ นั่งทานข้าวเป็นโต๊ะกลม มีกับข้าวเยอะมาก ทุกคนอัธยาศัยดี ผลัดกันยิงคำถามมาตลอด เข้าใจมั่งไม่เข้าใจมั่ง แต่คืนนั้นเราอมยิ้ม แม้เค้าจะแนะนำเราเป็นเพื่อนสนิทจากไทย แต่สัมผัสได้ว่าเค้าจริงใจ อบอุ่น คนในครอบครัวน่ารัก มารู้ทีหลังว่าเป็นช่วงเทศกาลไหว้พระจันทร์ที่คนจีนจะกลับบ้าน ไปอยู่กับครอบครัวกินข้าว เฮฮา หนึ่งในความเชื่อที่ยึดถือกันก็คือคืนนั้นพระจันทร์จะกลมโตสวยที่สุด แสดงถึงความสงบ ความรัก ความเจริญรุ่งเรืองที่จะเกิดขึ้นมาในชีวิต ไม่แปลกเลยที่คืนนั้นพระจันทร์สวยเลยแหละ ขนมไหว้พระจันทร์ที่ดุสิตคืนนี้เลยทำเรื่อง ทำให้เรานึกย้อนไปถึงตอนนั้น ทำให้คิดถึงช่วงเวลาดี ๆ บางทีก็แอบคิดว่าถ้าเค้าเห็นอะไรไทย ๆ บ้างจะยังคิดถึงเราเหมือนกันรึเปล่า
